Kids develop concepts about gender, love, and family before the age of five. Rainbow Kids, launched by CEC in 2022, provides practical and age-appropriate resources for parents of young children who wish to celebrate and normalize diversity when it comes to gender and what it means to be a “family.”

Age-appropriate conversations give children language and freedom to explore who they are from the very beginning — and gender-aware, inclusive environments help young children form healthy foundational concepts about identity, relationships, and family structures.

Rainbow Kids en Español

In 2024, Rainbow Kids en Español launched — translating materials into Spanish and adapting content for cultural relevance to diverse Latinx communities, with Spanish-language trainings available.

The resource library

The Rainbow Kids resource library includes one-pagers, facilitation and discussion guides for educators, materials en español, recommended books and organizations, crisis and support lines, and a YouTube channel with videos and webinar recordings.

A 2024 program update is available in reports and publications.
