Good programs can only go so far when the system itself puts up barriers. In 2019–2020, CEC worked with Assemblymember Marc Berman to introduce AB 1073, early childhood education workforce legislation designed to remove financial barriers for California’s early childhood educators — waiving community college fees for students pursuing early childhood education and child development pathways.
It’s a direct line from our on-the-ground work: what we learned recruiting and supporting future educators through the Teacher Pipeline Project shaped what we advocated for in Sacramento.
